Welcome to the SETTW Program Application.
Be sure to read the important information here, and on our website, about the SETTW program and the teaching obligation connected to the award before you complete the application.
As part of the application process, you must agree to the terms and conditions outlined in the application’s Teaching Agreement/Master Promissory Note and in the Program Requirements area of the ISAC website.
Teaching Obligation
If you are an SETTW recipient, you must teach two years on a full-time basis in the field of special education. This teaching obligation must be fulfilled beginning within one year immediately following graduation or termination of enrollment, and continuing for two of the subsequent five years, in the following Illinois schools that have been approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE): a nonprofit public, private or parochial preschool, a nonprofit public, private or parochial elementary school, or a nonprofit public, private or parochial secondary school. If the teaching commitment is not fulfilled, the waiver converts to a loan, and you must repay the entire amount, plus interest.
SETTW Eligibility Under the RISE Act
If you are a noncitizen, or a person who is not a permanent resident of the United States, you may be eligible to apply for SETTW under the Retention of Illinois Students & Equity (RISE) Act, if you meet all of the following criteria:

Read and follow all instructions and prompts as you answer the questions. You must agree to the program’s Terms and Conditions before proceeding through the application. Once your completed application is submitted, we will send immediate confirmation to your e-mail address that your application has been received at ISAC.
The data you input here will be automatically loaded into ISAC’s system, however,
your application will not be reviewed or processed until you have signed your
Application/Teaching Agreement/Master Promissory Note.

For priority consideration, applications must be received on or before March 1 preceding
the academic year for which you are applying. Be sure to retain a copy of your signed
Application/Teaching Agreement/Master Promissory Note, along with the Terms and Conditions,
for your records.
Please note the SETTW application cannot be completed through your mobile or tablet device. You must use a Wi-fi enabled desktop or laptop, connected to a printer, to complete the application.
